  1. Ask what prep is included. Patching, sanding, priming and moving furniture make the difference between a good and bad paint job.
  2. Know the paint and number of coats. A good quote names the paint brand and line and how many coats each surface gets.
  3. Check insurance. Ask for proof of liability insurance in case something gets damaged.
  4. Agree on timeline and cleanup. Get start and finish dates, and what cleanup looks like at the end of each day.
